Body First Taurine
Go to Store Taurine (500mg) Overview
Body First’s Taurine 500mg consists of pure, free-form taurine in its natural amino acid state. Taurine is a potent antioxidant that has been shown to promote absorption of certain vitamins, promote cell membrane stability, regulate heartbeat, contribute to the cellular transport of calcium, produce positive effects on glucose tolerance, regulate specific brain cell activity and reduce training-induced muscle cramps. *
The body is able to naturally synthesize taurine from the amino acids methionine and cysteine. However, with age comes reduced taurine production and supplementation can be quite beneficial. Supplementing with taurine has been shown to reduce muscular damage from resistance training and improve recovery times. In addition to the above-described benefits, taurine supplementation may also support eye health, since high concentrations of taurine are found in the retina of the eye. *

Taurine (500mg) Description from Body First
Taurine is a conditionally essential amino acid that is not utilized for protein synthesis, but is mainly found free in most tissues, especially throughout the nervous system. It functions in tissues by stabilizing cell membranes and aiding the transport of potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium in and out of cells. Taurine helps to generate and regulate nerve impulses and supports the maintenance of normal fluid balance; it is also used by the body in visual pathways, as well as in the brain and nervous system, where it works together with glycine and GABA as a neurotransmitter.
