They've jumped immediately into the high end of the market, tailoring their product line to professional athletes and competitors who need to be assured they're getting the highest quality with no gimmicks -- getting everything that the label claims and NOT getting any banned substances.

Proccor's philosophy

Proccor's process includes sourcing of all raw materials from the United States, independent in-house testing of all raw materials, direct manufacturing, and a random sampling of contamination and microbiology tests on every batch produced as well as lengthy quarantine periods on either end of the manufacturing process.

All ingredients in their products are also intentionally overfilled by 1 to 5% to ensure that the label's dosage is 100% guaranteed. Their facility is certified by all the organizations that really matter and they are prepared to have both FDA and NSF inspections every three months (but are not yet NSF certified for sport - they may be in the future).

They're also committed to open labeling and as much transparency as is competitively possible, and in early 2015 they plan to begin releasing videos of their facilities and videos of the manufacturing process through their website.

This is what happens when supplements are done right

The price of all this rigorous ingredient sourcing and testing is, well, the price. Proccor's manufacturing costs are about 30 to 40% higher than most of their competitors, and that cost necessarily has to be reflected in the asking price. As mentioned before, however, the target market is those who absolutely need to be assured that they're buying a product that is as premium as can be.

Despite the fact that we're a price comparison site and deals engine, we fully support this high-end model for the appropriate audience. Proccor doesn't see the business sense in entering a saturated market full of cost-cutting products that rely on marketing hype, and that strategy is probably a wise one.

Lab test results?

To put their money where their mouths are, Proccor is prepared to release their CoA (Certificate of Analysis) on the testing of their products to us on this site. They're already tested, so why not release those tests?

  Proccor's stimulant-based pre-workout primarily boasts the PURENERGY blend, which claims to deliver 30% more caffeine to the blood while reducing stim tolerance. It's also a pump enhancer and offers a 6+ hour sustained release formula.

Fair and honest question: how do we know we're not getting other stuff?

So when Proccor's CEO explained that he'd release the lab tests, we asked him the following:

What the COAs tell me is that we're getting what we're paying for, yet we don't know what else is potentially (but unlikely) in there.  Is that right?

Proccor's response:

Good question. Here's a short explanation of the process we undergo:

1. We source all the raw materials from our suppliers (all our materials are USA sourced, we never source from China or outside countries as many places do due to the much cheaper cost).
2. We then examine the COA sent to us by the supplier and go a step further to run our own tests to ensure that what they claim the raw material to be is actually what it really is.
3. We quarantine all the raw materials received, for 14 days, where we run contamination, purity, and tampering tests.
4. We then manufacture the product(s). (All products are also nitrogen flushed)
5. After the manufacturing phase is completed, we quarantine the products again and select random bottles to run microbiology and contamination tests, as well as to ensure dosages. The tests take about 7-10 days to complete and the products are only signed off for shipment once the tests are completed and the products are out quarantine.

All the above is in addition to NSF and FDA Inspections which occur every 3 months. Additionally, our facility is cGMP, NSF, NSF For Sport, FDA Registered/Inspected and Certified Organic. We also manufacture under true pharmaceutical grade processing. Even if we tried, it would be impossible to spike any of our products.

Most companies will go from step 1 (sourcing) directly to step 4 (manufacturing) and skip all the other additional steps we utilize. Many will only test if their sales decrease due to a publicly open issue and as a way to deny any wrong-doing on their end.

I've been in the industry for quite some time and have seen all the major brands' manufacturing facilities. We've been offered some very temping deals if we were to manufacture with them, and even though our costs on average are 30-40% more to manufacture, i wouldn't have it any other way. At the end of the day, if we can't put our products on the shelves and claim them to be the best, not only by formula and transparency but overall quality from start to finish, there's no point investing hundreds of thousands of dollars when we can buy some pre-workout for $30.
